Wyatt Grayson, Songwriter

mike-grayson

I would like to thank a wonderful man named Wyatt Grayson. He had heard of Sam's foundation through a friend. Wyatt lives in Canada and is a country singer. He read about our story and wrote a beautiful song that is dedicated to Areille, Paige, and Samuel. Below you can read the words that he wrote about that sad, sad night. Thank you Wyatt for your heart and for your talent. You are a wonderful man and we will always appreciate you.

I saw a small white cross by the side of the road
On the way as we drove to the bar
It's Friday night and we're out on the town
In my old friend's brand new car

We pull in to park so far from the bar
We walk half a mile to get in
Cause my friend don't want a scratch on his new Cadillac
So he parks where nobody else is

It's a good night all around as he puts the shots down
Guess he's got it in mind to celebrate
And I'm nursing a Coke cause I already know
By midnight he'll be in no shape

We talk and we dance and we look for romance
Like any old boys always do
And as often as not we don't have much luck
As we head out by the light of the moon

When we get to his car, he leans on the door
And he's laughing out loud and I say,
'I think I should drive,' cause there in my mind
Is that little white cross on the way

But he starts up his car and spins the wheel hard
And I watch him go speeding away
And later that night they tell me he died
And he took three young kids to their graves

And I could have been much more of a friend
And I should have twisted his arm
Lord what might have been if I’d only said
Give me the keys to your car
Please give me the keys to your car’

Heart-felt Thank You's

Tom and I would like to thank the following people for their part in our journey.

Captain Randy Schultz of the Brown County Sheriff's Department. How can we ever tell you enough how much you and your men and women mean to our families. From the 911 operators getting the first calls to Officer Dave being the last person to look into those beautiful blue eyes of Sam's, to the perimedics who tried everything they could to save three lives.  You will always be placed in a very special part of our hearts. You are a wonderul man and a great captain.  Thank you for becoming a police officer. We love you.

All the men and women on the Brown County police force and the Ashwaubenon Paramedics. Thank you for everything you did and tried to do to save Arielle, Paige, and Sam's lives.  We can only imagine how hard your jobs must be, but, know that these three families will ALWAYS be grateful and will ALWAYS love you.

Dr. McNutt and his staff at St. Vincent's Hospital in Green Bay. Thank you all, from the bottom of our hearts, for everything you tried to do to save our son's life in those early morning hours of June 19, 2009. Thank you for allowing Tom to come in so often to hold his boy's hand and tell him how much we loved him and for him to know that God was there to take him home should he not make it.  Thank you for the gentle way you did tell us that Sam went Home to Heaven.  Your hugs and your tears will forever be felt.  We love you all for what you tried to do....give us our son back.

To Patti Van Norden, Arielle's mom, John Lewandowski, Arielle's dad, Shannon Berg, Paige's mom, and Randy Berg, Paige's dad...  Thank you for walking this walk with us.  We love you all more than you will ever know and Tom and I are so sorry you lost each of your sweet girls.  You will always be in our hearts.

To all the people who supported this foundation. Thank you to all the donors, workers, encouragers, huggers, and people who just loved us. You are all who made this foundation possible. You did and are doing what is most needed...to saves lives...so families can stay together.

I would like to thank my husband, Tom, for letting me crawl onto his lap when I would cry so hard and just needed to feel his arms around me, like I wanted to just get lost inside of him and be protected. He helped me to forgive and reminded me of how much God loves Sam and that He would never take his life lightly because He knew how much it would hurt us.  To trust Him even when we don't have all the answers. I did that.  And, I'm so glad I did.  Thank you God for holding us and carrying us when we just can't take another step. You truly are wonderful.

Advantage Driving School    Advantage Driving School's website

I would like to thank Sgt. Bruce Jabobs of the Advantage Driving School of Manitowoc.  He contacted me on Facebook after a friend of mine told him about our new foundation.  We talked and this man has our heart.  He cares so much about this cause and brings that home to his students that he educates.  We admire and care so much about him.  And when we are speaking when he is with us, I will always make sure I share some tissues with him.  Thank you Sgt. Jacobs for being who you are.

Gold Badge Driving School Gold Badge's website

Tom and I were contacted by Pete and Sue Thelen of Gold Badge Driving School.  They asked if we would come and talk with their students and of course we jumped at the chance to touch another young heart.  It was wonderful being with them and their students.  Thank you Pete and Sue for caring about kids and the outcome of drinking and driving. <3

Peg Muenzel, Author

PegI was given Peg Muenzel's book "Walking Through" when I went into a local gift store. The owner knew that Samuel had gone Home to Heaven and thought the book would touch my heart. So, I took the book home and opened the first page...and was forever changed.

Peg lost her sweet son 19 years ago in a car accident. Her words melted into my heart, giving me healing, comfort, and hope.

This is the best book I have read of walking through this path of grief. Peg went back into her pain so we could go forward in hope.

Peg...I will always love you and I am so grateful for your hand reaching out to me saying..."You can get through."

"Walking Through" can be ordered through her website, PegMuenzel.com. You can also purchase the book through Amazon's website.
